The time of my life by Ariana

After 11 hours of traveling we finally arrived in Thessaloniki. We were very excited. First we went to YMCA building or XANO how the Greeks call it. It was awesome it had basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a girl showed us around. I loved the YMCA shop, it was amazing. After that we got on the bus and had 2 hours on the road where we arrived at Halkidiki camp.

After we sent our suitcases to the accommodation we went to eat dinner. We were then shown the camp rules. There was a bell and everyday it rang at 7:45 so the marikes (χαχα):some of us who had to lay the table and serve, had to go. After that there was another bell ringing at 8:00 so that everyone could go to the dinning hall and eat. After the marikes served the meal it was time for the prayers and after that we started eating and we couldn't leave the table until everyone was finished!

The first day we were split in four groups that had two or three leaders and they took us on a tour to the camp .After that we went to the beach. There was a lifeguard so we stayed there for like an hour or two and had to go and prepare for lunch. After lunch we usually had some rest and about five o’clock we met at the dinning hall so we played some games or were given some tasks . One day we had to make a play when we had to choose from science fiction ,western or romance and had to show it that evening so we had about an hour to write the script and rehearse.

The evenings were awesome we went to the theater and that was one of the best places where you could go in the camp we also went to the beach everyday . The worst part was getting back to our accommodation it was very tiring and uphill! One day we went canoeing where the life guard told us to wear our life jackets and taught us how to kayak. We visited another beach and jumped off a cliff ...It was terrifying and amazing at the same time!

One night we had to introduce ourselves so we did the penguin dance said our names and Dorina taught us some moves so I think we were one of the best performances that night. Other nights we just went to the theater and saw others playing games where our Greek friends translated for us.

One of the best nights was when we went to the beach. We were told to make a choreography and present it. We had like 15 minutes but it was amazing! Some of us even got in the sea! We did a treasure hunt and even thought it was tiring I loved it. We were split in three groups and had a letter which was a clue and had to find the others. We had to go up and down the hill three or four times so it was exhausting but it was worth it because I was on the team that won!

Time at our accommodation was something to remember... we had conversations for hours and didn't realize the time passing. This camp was a life experience and something I will never forget. I had the time of my life!
